Applying Foundation

womanapplyingfoundationapplyingfoundation

Applying foundation is easy. I've blended professional application techniques with practicality because real women are busy. We've got things to do and places to go. We don't want to spend a lot of time putting on makeup. But of course, we still want to look fabulous.

Don't worry about rules, just put some makeup on!
Wear it and love it!

NOTE: Apply facial moisturizer before any makeup and LET IT DRY.

Applying Liquid Foundation

- Use your fingertips, sponge puffs or sponge wedges. You can even dampen the sponge if you want. Sponges are great for blending but they can absorb some of the makeup, so you end up wasting a little product.

- Some people say to always use a sponge for a perfectly smooth finish. I always use my fingers and my makeup still looks perfect.

- I found the sponges to be aggravating. First I had to worry about them being clean, so I had to wash them after every use. Then I tried throwing them in the garbage after every use but I was always running out. I found the whole thing to be a pain.

- For me, the less applicators the better. If you want to use sponges, then use them. You always have to do what works for you.

Oh, a little common sense caution: make sure your hands are clean before using them to apply any makeup.

To apply this foundation: you're going to dot it on your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. Then blend the makeup over your face starting with your nose and blending outward. Use the excess makeup on your fingers or sponge and gently go over your eyelids.

Be careful about the jawline and hairline. Two things will help with these areas: the right color foundation and blending. Have you ever seen a woman whose face was a different color than her neck and scalp? You can avoid looking like you're wearing a mask by choosing the correct color makeup and blending it into the jawline and hairline.

Check your makeup in different lighting. Things look very different in sunlight and bright office lighting. Remember, applying foundation should be easy.

Applying Powder Foundation
(like mineral foundation)

- Use a big brush. Start at jaw line and move up brushing sideways left and right.

- Apply the powder foundation in sheer layers.

- Get more powder as needed but don't use more near the eye area. It'll settle in the lines.

- Make sure you wash your brush after every use. You want it to last and be bacteria free.

Applying Tinted Moisturizer Foundation

- There's no trick to applying this foundation.

- Just put a little on your fingertips and rub it on your face like cream.

Applying Creme to Powder

- Use a sponge. Start applying in the center of the face and blend out toward the hairline and jaw.

- No need to set makeup with powder. That was easy.

Applying Concealer

- Use your fingertips or a sponge.

- Apply dots of concealer on the desired areas.

- Pat the concealer into the skin. Don't rub.

- If applying under the eye, moisturize first to avoid a wrinkly look - like crepe paper.
