Eyeliner Tips Done Easy

eyeliner1

These eyeliner tips can make your eyes look beautiful. So, if the eyes are windows to the soul, then eyeliner is the frame. Eyeliner draws attention to the eyes and flatters every shape and size and color.

You might prefer to apply eyeliner after your eyeshadow. This way will ensure that your eyeliner color is not toned down. There really are no rules so if you feel like your liner is too bold, go ahead and tone it down by covering it with a little eyeshadow. In any case, mascara is easiest to apply last.

Liquid

I love the rich pigmentation. Although it's more difficult to apply, I think it's worth the effort. This type is superb for dramatic eyes.

Liquid liner comes in a rainbow of colors. Black is my favorite of course, but
definitely experiment with other colors like deep blue to accent blue eyes or green for green eyes. Remember, makeup should make you feel good. I'm not going to insist that you wear a color that matches your eyes. Wear whatever color you like! Brands to try: CoverGirl Line Exact Liquid Liner Pen and L'Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner
(Allure Magazine Best of Beauty Award Winners)

Applying Liquid Liner

1. Tilt your head back slightly while looking straight into the mirror. This forces your eyelids to close half way.

2. Start from the inner eye and glide the brush towards the outer eye. Stay as close to the lash line as possible. For the lower line start directly under the lashes. If you want to start at the inner corner of the eye, stay on the skin! Don't go inside the eye with liquid liner. If you want to make the line thicker, repeat while the first coat is still wet.

3. To help you draw a straight line, try sitting down and/or rest the hand your applying with on your cheek.

You probably need only one coat. But if you want another, wait until the first coat is dry.

Pencil

This is the easiest to put on. But, don't worry I'm still going to give you some eyeliner tips for this type. Some pencils pull the skin or require you to press too hard. Test them by drawing a line on the back of your hand. Also confirm the color and make sure the pencil draws smoothly. Brands to try: Prescriptives Softlining Pencil (Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner) and my favorite, Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil.

Applying Pencil Liner

1. This is the same as step #1 for liquid liner. See above.

2. Start in the inner corner of your eye and go outward. Stay close to the lash line. Repeat for the lower lash line.

3. Line inside the lower lash for more drama or to minimize large eyes.

4. Smudge if desired with fingertip or Qtip.
