Facial Toner Done Easy
Should a facial toner or astringent be part of your skin care regimen?
Probably not but it's up to you. Most beauty experts agree that they're really not necessary. Most dermatologists say that toners and astringents are too drying. What are toners and astringents anyway?
Toners - for normal to dry skin - hydrate the face - tighten pores - remove excess makeup/dirt missed by facial cleanser - contain water, oils and botanicals - doesn't contain chemicals or alcohol
Brands to try :
1. Kiss My Face Organics Balancing Act - removes excess cleanser and dirt, 78% organic, vegan
2. Olay Daily Facials Clarity Purifying Toner - contains salicylic acid, controls oil, acne treatment
Astringents - dries very oily skin - tighten pores - chemical or alcohol based - much more harsh than toner - to compensate for loss of moisture and oil, skin could overproduce oils, so face actually becomes oilier
Brands to try :
1. Sea Breeze Naturals Oil Removing Astringent - treats acne, clears blackheads 2. L'Oreal Pure Zone Pore Tightening Astringent - oil free; salicylic acid acne treatment
I don't use either of these products. I didn't like the tight or sometimes tingly feeing they gave me. They just dried out my skin.
If you love your toner/astringent, then keep using it. If you want to try one to see if you like it, I would suggest trying a toner first. They're a little gentler.
Do what's best for you.
