Powder Foundation Done Easy

powderfoundationpowderfoundation5powderfoundation2

Powder foundation is sheer to translucent. It doesn't have enough color to provide any real coverage on its own. But you still need to wear it. Let me tell you why.

Reasons to Wear Face Powder

1. Most importantly, it sets your foundation so your makeup stays put all day.

2. It can be reapplied throughout the day to control oiliness and shine.

3. It helps to blend away any harsh makeup lines. For example, you don't really want to see where your blush begins and ends. This product gives you a more "airbrushed" appearance.

4. It gives your face a finished look.

2 Types of Powder

Loose
1. finely milled, light and airy, can get messy
2. comes in a container, not convenient for travel
3. best applied just after foundation
4. gives a more flawless look than pressed formula
5. To apply: use a large brush, tap off excess, lightly brush over face.

Brand to try:

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Foundation

Pressed
1. highly compressed, may contain oils to hold product together
2. comes in a compact, excellent for travel
3. best used for touch-ups throughout the day
4. To apply: use puff that comes with compact but better if you use brush, gently smooth powder over face

Brand to try:

CoverGirl Simply Powder Foundation

Choosing Powder

Translucent
1. has no color so it won't change the look of your foundation or concealer
2. best for fair skin

Skin Tone
1. color gives extra coverage to your foundation
2. stay away from pink tones - looks like pink blush all over your face
3. yellow tones give more natural look
4. should match foundation
